Cars clock events: we move around and change as we experience different places. I first remember being aware of cars as more than a vehicle of transport when I was very young, but I was about nine when I saw the first car that thrilled me. un-English is based on the design of five cars that I have loved. I don’t need a car so it’s not about a necessity in life, rather it’s about missing something and because of this it holds a hint of archaeology – that sense of looking backwards or uncovering something that is no longer part of now.
